Product Overview
Description
Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde, or Knights Of The Round Table, is a French jacquard wall tapestry based on the original tapestry woven circa 1890 by William Morris (1836-1896), famous British artist and designer. This design was part of a set of 6 tapestries called The Holy Grail series. This scene symbolizes the Quest for the Unicorn by King Arthur's legendary twenty-four knights. The Lion represents the most courageous knights. Above the Unicorn the banner states that "These are the arms of the knights of the round table bidden to seek the unicorn on the quest whatever might befall." Above the Lion it states "Of those knights that thus departed these are the chiefest , sir Gawain of Orkney, Sir Lancelot, Sir Hector DeMarys, Sir Bors, Sir Percival, Sir Galahad."
